Soothing Hot Toddy Recipe

It’s cold and flu season and this year I have a cough that just won’t stop. Last night when I got home from work my chest and throat hurt from coughing so I put together a nice soothing Hot Toddy. It warmed me up inside, soothed my throat and chest, and helped me sleep too. I thought it would be nice of me to share my recipe.

Ingredients:

1 oz brandy or whiskey alcohol
1/2 dried cinnamon stick
2 whole dried cloves
dollop of honey
1 t fresh lemon juice
Yogi brand India Spice Tea or Lemon Ginger Tea
Enough boiling water to fill mug

Instructions:

  1. Put some water on to boil.
  2. Cover the bottom of a large mug with honey, lemon, and 1 oz alcohol.
  3. Add the tea bag and pour boiling water over the tea bag.
  4. Stir until honey is dissolved. Add cinnamon stick and cloves. Let steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bag.
  5. Get cozy in your favourite chair with a warm blanket and a good book. Sip Hot Toddy while it’s hot.
  6. Go to bed early and get a good night’s sleep. Feel better sooner.
